For painting the cleaned parts, I've seen the light. The light was gleaming off Todd Doty's fine restoration of his CASE tractor. Todd used the HVLP system sold in Northern Hydraulics catalog for under $200 (complete with compressor.) Todd explained that the HVLP system does not stir up the air around what you're painting so you don't need to super-clean your area prior to painting. He uses the paint from Central Tractor Supply and the finished product looks great. He didn't even rub the final coat. What I saw was just dried paint and it really looked good. I'm sold. I'm restoring an Allis "B" this winter and there will be a HVLP system under my Christmas tree.
