No, i never met the man. But, seeing that there were so many men in each Division, Battalion, Regiment, Company, platoon, and squad, it was even hard to meet anybody a person had taken basic training with.
Although, a group of men who had trained with me, all ended up in the same Company in the 90th. Division, in action, in France, near St. Lo! Six of us ended in the 357th. Regiment, B company, at that time. But, as luck would have it, most of my group either got killed, or captured, or wounded.
I have kept in touch with the men i was in action with, but, i think i might be the last one still living!
Now, for your information, there is a 90th. Division Group, which you can join, or write to, and you can get lots of information about the 90th. Division Here's what to do: And it doesn't cost anything, unless you'd like to send a donation! Address all correspondence to:
Association Headquarters. James R. Reid, SR., Executive Secretary/treasurer, Rhoda Reid, Newsletter Editor and assistant Executive Secretary/ Treasurer
17 Lake Shore Drive-Willowbrook, Il 60527-2221
Phone: 630-789-0204 Fax: 630-89-0499

You can give my real name: J.M.Hammitt in your correspondence, if you wish. The magazine has a lot of stories of the 90th. Division in action and addresses where you can get info, or buy CD's.
It would be a great way to keep your Father-in-laws memory alive.
And, thanks for asking!
p.s. I lost my left foot from a land mine explosion, in action, in France, in October 1944. I have written up some of my experiences of that!

Yours: Rusty J.
