I see it this way, Overseas, they are riding scooters and motorcycles with two people on them. They have a cart behind them pulling the family and relatives. In the US, People are buying SUVs so they can sit up high and drive a truck. Spending upwards of 40K on a vehicle that gets 10-12 mpg. This is payback folks. I have a truck that is 20 yrs old only because I cant afford a new one. I bought a small used car to try to cope with the cost of gas in New York at 1.60 gal for the last 4 months.( It was up to 1.79) There are still people making more money that dont care how much it costs. They are going to continue to buy these luxury trucks. We were supposed to be going the other way, making ways to get more mpg but we all know that the car companies have stocks in oil. Our Legislators and govenment officials dont pay for gas. You and I fill their Lincolns and Suburbans and Cadillacs.
