That's the problem with trying to keep something in the family. I tried to keep one of the JD G tractors that was bought new by Dad's family in 49' in the family. I was told I couldn't buy it because 'we want to keep it in the family' ( Dad married Mom in the early 60s after my father died). I was always considered the "redheaded stepchild" by Dad's family. The tractor was put into the farm auction a few years later and it sold for $5,200 which was about $4,000 more than it was worth to a sucker in Virginia. I walked away with a pretty sour feeling. I was told last year that the uncle who wouldn't sell me the G was looking to buy a JD 2 cylinder to restore in his retirement, so I promptly sold the G and the A I had to some out of town friends for what I had invested. "Just wanted to keep them in the family".
