K Smith: Welcome to farming. Keeping the soil in the condition you may want is a never ending task. The rain will help firm up the loose plowed soil and then when the sun starts baking all the water out of it, it will get hard as a rock again. This often happens but A cover crop may help keep it from turning back into "concrete." good luvk. harvey
