There's basically three things that can go wrong with that system.... a bad alternator. A bad temperature pad under the battery or bad wiring between the battery pad and alt. Other than wiring problems a Delco 10si alternator is cheaper than either of the other two. I forget now if you need to alter the lower bracket or not, but if you do it's minor, then make a new top bracket... then wire the dash light into the sense circuit on the alt. Problem solved. I get them at Napa. Just try ro find one with a 'B' series pulley. That makes life easier.
