I also live in the snowbelt on the shores of Lake Superior and plow with a box blade and use the loader to put the snow where I want it. I've plowed as much as 16" of snow at -25 and if you dress properly it's no big deal. It also gives me an excuse to run the tractor during the winter when it would otherwise just sit. Plowing with a truck is very tough on the truck, especially the steering/suspension and transmission/clutch. One more advantage of using a tractor is visibility. Sitting up high gives you a tremendous advantage, especially when snow is blowing and drifting. I've done it both ways and even though I have a truck I can plow with, I always use the tractor. My 2 cents worth!
