Can't help you with the NACC question. Horsepower is a measure of how much power an individual engine can produce. 1 hp = 33,000 ft-lbs of work per minute, or 550 ft-lbs per second. If you know the torque output (twisting effort) of an engine in foot-pounds, and the rpm value at load, the hp can be calculated. Years ago, there was a formula used to calculate the "SAE HP" of engines, which used the bore, stroke, and number of cylinders. It gave results that had little if any relationship to actual power output. You can buy a computer program called Desktop Dyno which will run a computer simulation of whatever parameters you type into it. It's supposed to have some decent accuracy for certain types of engines, especially when set up for racing. Your best bet on calculating tractor horsepower will come from two sources: Nebraska Test data, and hooking it to a dynomometer.
