Dan I don't think I'm hardly as nostalgic as some of these Ford folks. I had a completely different view on N dorfs. The main reason there were so many N series Fords was simply a cheap supply and heavy demand for cheap equipment. They were advertised to be the Messiah for farmers, but were more kin to the anti-christ. 1. I never saw a dorf that would pull 2 bottom plows of any kind in this soil around here. 2. I never saw a dorf with enuff lift power or engine power to lift any kind of engine. 3. They were too heavy for light work and too light for heavy work. If you watered the tires down so they did'nt spin, then the N would'nt pull the plow. 4. On cloudy or high humidity days and most definetly when it came a little shower it would skip and backfire and would'nt pull your hat off your head. If you were trying to farm with a N dorf you had to stay on good graces with your neighbor who owned a Case or Farmall. The neighbor would be the one to come pull you out when you were stuck. If your neighbor would come over and prepare your land the dorf was pretty good to run a 1 or 2 row corn planter with. The best move I ever made was to trade a newer N dorf for a wore out H Farmall. The wore out Farmall would work everyday rain, shine, sleet or snow but the dorf just could'nt handle the pressure.
