Got a 96 Dodge 1500 4x4 with 5.9/360 with little over 314,000mi. Do all service myself and use nothing but synthetic oils and suc. Cost me tires, brakes, etc and I use it like a 2500 series. First Dodge I ever owned and am sold. Freinds have newer ones and have no significant issues. Not saying they are any better than other brands; but, any of them can have a lemon or two now and again.
