The federal gov. paid out big money to get those plants to be converted to make military hardware and keep them running for the war effort. And it will be real sad to have GM/ford and Xler plants mothballed into history and when the next big war happens we will be screwed.
If GM had the brains they would go to Warren buffet and say "hey you need to buy up GM for "X" billions of dollars so we can survive". But the execs are too proud and stupid to allow that to happen.
