You are missing the whole point. Its not about you getting a gun. Its about the Goverment getting it from you when they deem they want it.

Canada may be different but here in the US. This whole country was started and built by people who had 1st hand knowledge about living with a goverment that was tyranical.

The 2nd amandment was put in place on porpose to prevent this sort of thing. registration is the 1st step in confiscation.
Having me register my fire arm will solve nothing with crime.
What would solve it? If you commit a crime with a fire arm you get thrown in jail for 20 years no porol. If you discarge a fire arm wile commiting a crime. 40 years.
if you injur or kill a person with a fire arm wile commiting a crime. Death

Problem solved.
