I do the same thing in my garage with the XM. Usually can get good reception for about the length of a crewcab pickup and 18ft trailer on behind it. However, in the summertime, I move the XM from my pickup to my JD swather, and my son following me in another swather can pick up my XM, usually from quite a bit farther away than that....don't know if 100ft would be possible though...of course this doesn't help the original poster since his sattelite XM isn't broadcasted through a transmitter....
