The fuels themselves are kerosene, #1 fuel oil and #2 fuel oil. Kerosene is a very clean low sulphur product. It's sold without road tax usually over priced in 1,2, or 5 gallon jugs at hardware stores. Occasionally from bulk pumps at a rare few gasoline stations. An even cleaner grade of Kerosene is sold as JetA-1 or Jet B for winter use. Cheapest source I've ever located. #1 fuel oil is for winter use where ever #2 would be used in summer, less prone to gel. #2 fuel oil is regular home heating oil, highway diesel and farm diesel............but. Then comes road tax and varying levels of sulphur depending on the location in the country, the location and calendar date. With the #1 & #2 fuel oil. Kerosene/Jet A-1 is what should be used in lanterns, torpedo heaters and gas turbine engines. Works best in allfuel engines too. Some folk burn the cheaper #1 winter, low sulphur fuel oil in torpedo heaters. However it's too heavy causing sooting and stinks. It's really too heavy for all fuel engines unless running at constant full load, full rpms, heated manifold and 210F coolant temps. #2, well it's diesel fuel. Not much good for any else except diesel engines, home heating fuel and storage of paint brushes. Only the desperate or the daft try using it in heaters, lamps or spark ignition engines.
