I'm 66 years old, and I've had open heart surgery (after having a heart attack, lens replacement surgery is both eyes, spinal surgery (that really hurt). I'd be willing to trade my spinal surgery for your upcoming stomach surgery any day. Look at it as an opportunity to lose weight, assumeing you need to lose weight, which you probably will. The down side is you wont't be doing any sit-ups for awhile and you'll also be eating baby food for awhile (yuk!).
