You can"t get rid of the key in ign bell. It comes through the radio speakers now. You can close the door latch with a screw driver and that will fool the system into thinking the door is closed. I do that from time to time for sanity. Beware unplugging the wire connector on the seat belt receiver. If the receiver has a pretensioner, you will trigger the air bag warning light. For a few years now, new vehicles have 2 stage air bags. They use sensors to monitor how close the seat is to the bag, also for crash severity. I"d have to look, but unplugging the receiver may take away an input to the airbag system.
