O/T- Door Ringer on 2007 Chevy Duramax Diesel

Alot of collective knowledge here. Is there any Chevy techs out there that know of an easy way to stop that infernal racket? I leave my key in it every wherever I go on the farm, neighbors, etc. (not in town). Sometimes when I work on equipment and want to listen to the radio out of the drivers door, ding, ding, ding. It would make my life easier if it just went away! Thanks in Advance.

I "fixed" one on a Dorf Exploder last week.

I found the infernal tweeter and pumped it full of silicone gasket maker.

SERIOUSLY, it MAY be possible for the dealer to turn it off with the factory scan tool. There are a certain amount of features like that that can be accessed through the scan tool. It wouldn't hurt to ask.

I used duct tape over the doorjamb switch on my old Ranger when I was drying the carpeting out in the sunlight. I was more concerned with the dome light running the battery down, since I always take the keys out.

The batteries kept going dead in my 92 6.5 diesel and didn't know why till noticed the dome light would not shut off. The switch is in the plastic dash and the button hits the door when it is closed. In the summer time the plastic dash bowed in letting the dome light come on. Got a mower section and two little metal screws and fastened it to the plastic dash over the button. Been there ever since.

Yes its a pain in the $SS. Even the seat belt alarm, I dont want to wear the seat belt driving around the farm. I dont need this stupid bing bing bing to tell me its not on. I have thought about looking in the manual and cutting the wire for it, but I havent had time, and most likely the wire would do 10 other things so I would have no directionals, no reverse lights, wipers and and god knows what...... just kidding

The seat belt alarm is easy to kill. Look under the drivers seat by the seat belt latch. There is one wire with a plug comming up from the floor hooking to the seat frame. Just unplug it, dinger dead. Can't help with the door dinger tho.

You can"t get rid of the key in ign bell. It comes through the radio speakers now. You can close the door latch with a screw driver and that will fool the system into thinking the door is closed. I do that from time to time for sanity.
Beware unplugging the wire connector on the seat belt receiver. If the receiver has a pretensioner, you will trigger the air bag warning light. For a few years now, new vehicles have 2 stage air bags. They use sensors to monitor how close the seat is to the bag, also for crash severity. I"d have to look, but unplugging the receiver may take away an input to the airbag system.

its time for ford and gm to do away with the interior chimes or least give us an option to switch them off. my 04 ford company truck with 120k miles has been a great truck, however, the interior chime is so loud that it makes my ears hurt. when i purchased a new personal truck last year i did not even look at a ford due to the loud chimes. at least the gmc has a option to select low or high chimes. strange the great lengths they go to make the enterior quite and then purposely build in such a racket.

No pretensioner on the Silverados. My 2008 still just has the same two wire connector they have used since the 90's. No airbag light, just no dinger.

I would look carefully at the owners manual (bear with me here) Ford has a procedure in the owners manual to turn off the belt warning. it is long and goofy, but it works

thanks, wasn't so goofy that this goofy couldn't do it. worked liked a charm and as they say "if all else fails, read the directions". maybe now my hearing will return to normal. no regrets over purchasing the gmc over the ford though.
