I once owned a Torro 2 Cyl mower with this type of problem. Engine would quit and the spark plug gap would be filled a clear looking hardened substance. I could pop it out with a knife and the engine would run again. Believe the correct spark plug is important on these mowers. Also, the Lawn Boy exhaust ports need to be checked and cleaned out if necessary.
