I run an old Lawn Boy of about the same year and really havent had this problem. The little beads are usually a sign of detonation from too much compression or low octane fuel. If your mower has a lot of carbon on the piston and head, the compression may be high enough to cause detonation. Try high octane gas and genuine Lawn Boy oil if avalible
I have had good luck mixing 1 can (8 oz)Lawn Boy oil with 2 US gallons of 89 or higher octane gas for a 32:1 ratio. Hope this helps JH
