This may sound rude and I really do not mean it to be but lets look at the facts.........
The truck came with 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. A extended warranty was most likely offered but you chose not to buy it.
The truck ran well threw the warranty period. In fact no problems till about 56,000 miles when the lifter started tapping and the truck now has 76,000 miles.
Now you want GM to fix the truck under warranty.
So I got to ask....... At what point do you feel the cost of repairs should be your reasonability??
If you were a month or two and maybe even 2 or 3 thousand miles over the warranty; I would say go for it but 40,000 miles past the warranty and you still looking for it to be fixed for free.
