On re read of your post, I may have misunderstood how you get your TV signal to that old set. If you attach the DTV converter box to an outdoor antenna, it will add close captioning to your old TV set. If you are getting a local channel off a cable TV system, then the the converter box will not work (no close captioning) if the cable TV system converts DTV to an alalog signal.
