I did mine 5 years ago, a few things I learned...1) don't go cheap on systems like wiring. Some of the wire used in my house was 14/2...go 12/2 and make all outlets 20 amp instead of 15. Use copper pipe for your water supply system. 2) Be sure to build big enough...after we built, we realized it would be nice to have about another 100-200 square feet for a more proper dining room. What looks large enough on paper is not always correct.
