We have seen this at different times within the town, they tried it with me over an old K-10 chevy plow truck in the yard, no plates, I did not respond to it, it kind of went away, but it is hard to comment without looking at the established local town codes, our place is still zoned A42 agricultural, seems they have pushed this issue with commercial operations, a friend in the paving business had to relocate his shop, even though his yard was fenced in. Those who really have a lot of these things around their place, have dealt with harassment over this, it kind of depends on how visible it is and who is pushing it. I think it is frustrating for some, you pay land taxes and they want to control what you keep on it. Within reason ok, I can understand to a certain extent, based on rationale to eliminate safety hazards and to keep people in check about it so the whole town does not become a salvage yard, but if you keep your place neat, don't pollute or contaminate, and like many people, you have some old equipment for hobby, still in ag use, or other reasons like spare parts etc., I think it's a bit discriminatory.
