The standing rule used to be Don't exced the weight of TV . Most manufacters recomend brakes if trailer is over 3000 LB & most states require them. They also recomemend equlizer hitch with sway control also. I wouldn't pull out of driveway without brakes on trailer over 2000 LBS. Depends on how well you like truck if you don't like it over load it, then you can get a new larger one.
