Here is my opinion. 1. Check that all fluids are up to right level, this will make sure that the pump is not starved for fluid.
2. Is the oil good and clean, (new would be nice)
3. Get the machine up on jacks and run the wheels and listen for clunking, does the bucket lift up and down, tilt without bad noises.
4. Is the final drive of the machine gear or hyd. only. I would think that the machine is gear cause my hydro stat trans makes a little bit of a whine in high gear. I almost only run it in low cause of plowing snow. My final drive is gear cause of the hi/low range lever.
