i have a 1953 ford jubilee(naa). my problem is this. after running the engine for 5 to 10 minutes at idle the radiator cap starts to relieve. the water temp guage is defective. i bought a new one, but the new one is junk too.( i put the sensor in hot water and it never moves off of "cold". i replaced the thermostat and the radiator cap because it seemed like the cheapest and a very logical solution. meanwhile, i check the engine temp with an infrared gun to make sure i don"t cook it. i notice that when it relieves, the radiator itself starts steaming on the outside of it. the fluid that has been expelled into my bucket is cold. i then relieve the pressure from the cap, and the water in the radiator is cool to the touch too. i initially suspect that the water pump has failed, it is not leaking at all, which is what i always thought happened. i took the oil drain plug loose to see if i had any water in the oil. there is no water visible in oil or any signs of a milky mixture. i took the spark plugs out they look ok. the front and rear plug look a little oily, like slight fouling but no signs of water. i live in iowa and use it to blade my driveway in winter(nothing breaks when its warm.!) i am hoping someone out there may have some more experience with this particular problem. i hope its not a head/head gasket problem, i"m trying to talk myself out of putting a snow plow on my pickup and sending this thing down the road. please help, scott.
