This is probably not your problem and I'm comparing apples to oranges here, but my 630 used to work it's way out of fourth, if I remember right, when I had it on the cultivator for long hours. I shimmed the pawl spring, which just happened to be conveniently under a cap on top of the tranny case, and it hasn't jumped out since then. I could even hear the pawl click in after the shimming.
If the spring is strong and the shift rail is in good shape you should feel the pawl fall into the detent when the gearshift gets close to the end of it's travel in the quadrant. If you know what you're feeling for, you should be able to feel if the spring is weak or the detent is worn.
This may not be your problem but it's something that can be checked out in about a minute's time. Jim
