That was a common problem with both the A & B tractors. They did make a kit that was supposed to take care of the problem, and I say supposed. They did not take care of the problem. Dealer said wedge a piece of wood 1X2 in the quadrant so the stick pushes against that. Ran both a 49 B and a 51 A like that for years. The shaft has just enough flex in it that causes that, and a new shaft will not cure the problem.
