My first diesel experience when I was 16, this was with a mid-fifties Oliver 66. I always thought and still think it was 4 cycle. Being quite experimental, with my bosses tractor, I learned, after over-loading it going up hill with a silage wagon and rolling backward, that it would run CCW. It smoked a lot. I stopped it in a few seconds. There were a couple subsequent times that I demonstrated the six reverse gears and two forward. It ran but did not have much power. The oil pump problem I could understand and never ran it long in the wrong direction. I would be interested in knowing the configuration of the injector pump which allowed the running backward. My thoughts are, that injection timing must have been the reason for low power
