I have a 1970's model Cub Cadet LowBoy 185 with a 18.5 horse 4cyl engine and 3forward speeds and reverse. When I shift gears(from a complete stop), I press the clutch and it almost always grinds when I try to engage it in any gear. Is this simply signs of a clutch wearing out, or could it be something more. Also, the engine has quite a bit of blow-by (smoke from burning oil). Has anyone ever put new rings in this model of tractor?? Do you have to pull the engine out of the chassis?? Also, what grade of oil should I be using - 10W30, 10W40, 30W, or what?? I would appreciate any help you can give. I have never owned a tractor before, so I need a little help. Thanks in advance for all your input, Scott Foster Trenton, IL
