Friend sort of in car repair business and trucker were talking about East coast- Conneticut or Massachusetts(?) where old cars not registered and inspected were being siezed and crushed- the local model A clubs had had some of the partial restores and parts cars taken, a couple running model As had also been siezed and crushed as they didn"t pass emissions tests. These vehicles had been taken from private property and garages. The other older 1950s up runners that failed emissions tests were being impounded pending repair to bring up to emissions standards- 90 days or something without passing retest meant a crush order plus a fine. Only way out of fine for owner was a scrapping certificate from a salvage yard that would pick it up from police impound. Antique car clubs were trying to take state to court and haveing difficulty getting heard- state points to some kind of dealer/collector license that would let them keep cars that didn"t meet standards but expensive conditions as commercial zoning and secured storage required for storage area, business licensing and inspections of premises- few home garages would meet standards. About like Bloomberg saying he wasn"t against people having pistols IF they first got a license from New York City. RN
