I have a similar problem, but with dogs. Not strays, but local dogs that run free. Louisiana has a state leash law. I have talked to the owners for years, and the Sheriff's department will not catch them outside city limits unless they bite someone (or someone's kid). They crap on my porch, in my yard, by my truck door, pee on my tires, come around at 2 am and make my dogs (behind a 6 ft wooden fence) bark their heads off.
I am fed up! I have narrowed it down to two options. Timik (spelling? granualr cotton pesticide) in some meatballs or chicken works good and they usually die within 20 ft of the bait. The other is I have 2 boxes of sub-sonic .22 ammo. I do not want various dead wildlife around the house so I am starting with the .22's.
Am I wrong for shooting peoples pets? Yes, but I value mine and my wife's sleep. I am begining to hate my job of 3 1/2 years because I wake at 4 am and work 12 hr shifts. If I take care of the root problem of my sleep deprevation, maybe I can enjoy work again with a full 8 hrs of uninterupted sleep.
