At SAM'S club for 75$ there is a external Hard disk that has 500GB of file space. It is pretty much plug and play into a USB port. The unit will do timed backups of everything on your HDD, or just the Documents section, or however you set it up. very menu driven. Then use a Flash USB to transfer the files. I also believe your CD issue is (as indicated below) the fact that the CD was not "closed" using Nero or Most other CD burners, it is necessary to tell the computer to close the disk.
