Yes,,,one time long ago i saw an old WD9 with a loader that a guy had drilled in studs into the bars as you say and had been installed for many years as far as i could tell,,,,Im shirr they were not anyware neer as good as chains but better than not at all and could still travel down the road without all the clatter,,,I have often thot about trying it myself but didn't know how to go about installing them and the neighbor who did thees is long gone.
