i usually disassemble mine in a vice, but 2 steel or hardwood blocks will work. first make sure all the circlips/retainer clips are removed. lay the assembly in the vice or in the blocks so that one yoke rests with an ear on each block and the other is vertical between them now with a small sledge hammer or large ball peen hammer down on the vertical yoke, this should cause the cap to pop up out of the yoke. now carefully turn the assembly over and re-insert the cross into the open cap, and do the same. you should now be able to seperate one yoke from the u-joint. to remove the second pair of caps lay the trunions of the cross on the blocks an repeat procedure. (if using steel or vice protect trunions with a rag or other softer material) ive done this many times with all sizes of u joints with luck. just be careful to keep all bearing cap needles in place, an extra dab of grease helps
