I posted this over on Using Your Tractor a few days ago. No changes this week. Normally, my sales during Christmas week are down, not this week. Sold 79 rolls since Saturday as of this morning. Getting ready to head out and start my deliveries today. Its a balmy 6 degrees, Im waiting for 10. There appears to be some resistence at the 7.00 level on square bales of grass hay. I really worry at these prices about demand destruction, like what happened with oil and gas.
Big square alfalfa 205.00-265.00 per ton delivered in semi load lots.
Small squares 5.50 (orders of 500 or more) to 7.00 (small lots) for good second cutting grass hay. Good alafala, too scarce to price but what I've seen from 8.85 to 14.75 in semi load lots.
Volume wise, Im seeing a lot of rounds moving on the roads. Not seeing many big squares coming in yet, a few loads of small squares but no more than in a normal year. My sales were really good up until last Wednesday (started raining). Moved over 60 rolls first of the week. Since then I've sold 2 rolls. Overall, for this year my sales are up about 10 percent on a volume basis. Prices steady to 20 percent higher on small squares and steady to 15 percent lower on rounds. Big squares fully steady from last year.
