Reminds me of growing up in NW Indiana. We had ice storms when I lived in the Tacoma,WA area and they were really distructibve. The one we had in '96 cut the power and phones off for a week as falling trees tore down the power lines together with the poles. My wife cooked on the wood stove and we gathered water from a seasonal spring to flush the toliets. All the stores and businesses closed because of a lack of electrical power.
We now live in NW Montana and due to the lack of trees in our valley, ice storms are not as menacing as they are in other places.
