Dowdeswell were the largest plough manufacturer in England in the 1990's. These particular ploughs were based on the model DP-8, sold in 2 and 3 furrow sizes, modified for export and handled in Japan by Okia Ford ,the Ford tractor distributor in Japan. Made in 12 or 14 inch wide furrow sizes. The plastic bodies were made in Europe and were fitted because the Japanese volcanic soils would flow over the plastic, whereas the soils stuck to conventional steel mouldboards.The soil is not abrasive but sticky. Note the front & bottom waering shins are made of normal plough metal.
