ken, it is all a matter of money. Contact a state forestry or extension rep and request for an on site evaluation. They will tell you if you have marketable timber and the best manner of selling it. An appraisal by a trained forestry person can give you a firm position as to the value. Once you know what the trees can yield in value you can then approach the manner in which you wish to carry out the process. Get a written agreement and get paid up front or with progress payments. Remember that the highway leads in many directions and that all the logs do not have to go to the where you think they are being processed and where you could be receiving your pay. My dealings with loggers have been less than satisfactory and that is why I have gone to the above suggestions. Best of luck.
