I second that, I would definitely put the shutters back in. If your not working it hard its already going to take forever to get up to temp. With the shutters on it, it may make you reach operating temperature more quickly. The faster you get up to 190 and stay there the less fouling problems you will have. What year of JD H do you have, our H is a 1946 and it has the mechanical shutters?
