I'm not real familiar with the "H" do they have a thermostat? If not yes I would put the shutter back on and use it. You even said you do not run it hard. Even better reason to get it hot faster. I have a old "A" and I block the rad to get it up to temp. If not it takes a while for it to get up. Its always better for a engine to get up to temp ASAP.
