lets get this 78 dollar an hour thing sorted out....most line workers will never see that number, the 78 dollar figure is what they call the "burden rate " or if you go to your local auto dealer they call it "shop rate" . this figure includes their hourly wage +health care +disability ins+pension+tuition reinbursement, and te rest of their benny's & fixed structual cost for retaining the employee, Skilled trades in our facility I believe are at 28-32 an hour+benny's.....on a side note the sweepers (sanitation ) in our facility make skilled trade wage because we don't have any assembly at our facility(R&D) ,this was in their contract...A older lady retired a year ago made 126,000 in her last full year working (I use that term loosely) all the ot she could. She showed up and read the paper ,and pushed trash cans around, but did no work...and when she was asked to do something by her supervisor the standard response was "call the committie man , I'aint doin' it " and she would walk away....now , she was in the minority of the people giving the UAW a bad name . There are more good people hunkering down and doing their job that you never hear about...And yes I work for the big 3 , but I am salry , not hourly(UAW). I think there are more rough times ahead, it didn't take 3 months to get where we are , and it sure is gonna take more than 3 mo. to get out... Shawn
