I agree that unions have taken a high road at thinking they deserved a higher than average compensation. However aren't some of us as guilty as the management for demanding that there be a new shiny car or truck setting on the lot for us to purchase anytime we want. We or at least myself has found that the price wasn't as important as the availability when I needed a new vehicle. Management owes stockholders a fair dividend and the only way to generate a profit. If we will pay the price then why shouldn't they maintain sales by building inventory. This has opened the door to fair trade with foreign companies who can build a better product at a fair price. If the american manufacture is going to stay in business we need to build what the consumer wants at a fair price. If that means strikes or plant closings, so be it. The labor cost must be controlled. Why should we reward these companies for not controlling their costs?
