Clemson does recommend zinc for pecan trees, go to that site listed below that someone provided for Clemson University, I have used some of that information. Here on the Gulf Coast of Alabama the drought messed up our harvest last year. This year the only trees that have set, and held decent nuts are the ones that received zinc in the last 3 years. I put zinc down on some of them right after Katrina in 2005, and didn"t put down anymore on other trees because I got too busy. This year I am going to put it out again. I bought the zinc at a local fertilizer distributer, and put it out with my cone/broadcast spreader on the tractor. 3-45lbs bags I believe. Clemson recommends the broadcast rates, and time intervals. The zinc seems to help.
