i have the same truck as you except its a 1990. but 4.3 and 5 speed. yea it never had much power. it blew at 209000 miles a few months ago and im in the process of putting a 350 in it. it bolts right up but you'll need a 350 computer and radiator, and maybe motor mounts. best of all the donor truck was only $300
