For goodness sakes! don't file it down! there's a reason its not in place, that stuff is precision machined to give the standout needed for proper sealing, the best thing to do if you are that far is to remove the pan, pistons and rods , remove the sleeves and clean everything and put it back together right with new sleeve seals, but if you would even entertain the thought that you can file it down and make it right, maybe you should get a knowledgable mechanic friend to give you some guidance. mEl
