Don't take it off until you try: turning off the fuel at the tank, then running it out of fuel by starting it and letting it run W/fuel off. Then turn the fuel on and see if it floods. This trick drops the float to allow a shot of gasoline to clear the seat of tiny particles. If this does not work, and tapping is not working, then diagnosing the needle and seat will be needed. Always turn off the fuel when it is shut off. Make it a habit. Even tiny needle and seat leakage will flood it. Gravity feed fuel systems are like having a weak fuel pump running all the time, even when not running. JimN
