Too me it's just like a garden only year round. You can not put a pencil to raise'n a graden for your self and family. When you figure in the tractor, plow, disk, fert, seed, gas, tiller, ect,,,,
It is more of a lifestyle deal. If you don't have time to mess with it and feel the ol' lady and kids will not mess with it don't do it.
On the other hand fresh eggs are just like fresh meat, priceless. If you have time or can get the kids to do it they are nice. If you can not buy them localy doing it your self is the only way to go. If you can buy fresh eggs or a meat hog up the road from some one who has the time to mess with them you will be better off at the end of the year.
