I'm trying to upgrade the starter motor size on my Dubuque Deere diesel. The more cranking power the better in winter. The block heater is usually plugged in and the tractor starts like summer. However having the ability to "cold start" is good insurance. Being in North America it's easier to find Delco starters. Trying to find a true 4KW Bosch is like trying to find hen's teeth. The current starter is a 3KW/4HP Bosch using the 2 hole mount on a 105mm spacing with a 82 or 82.5 flange mount dia. The pinion is a 10 tooth, 10/12 pitch with a pinion rest of either 35 or 38mm. The Delco 28mt snout to fit appears to be a #10457050 Deere uses variety of Delco's such as the 20mt,25mt,27mt and 28mt. None of those are any more powerful than the factory 3KW Bosch. The Delco 29mt likely will accept the same starter nose as the 28mt. However it's only 3.3KW, not much of an upgrade. Is there a two hole mount that will bolt onto the gear reduction 38mt or 39mt? Or a two hole mount for the mighty direct drive 37mt/41mt Delco's? Is there a cross reference for starter snout specs online similar to the sae flywheel/belhousing specs?
