When the "custom wheat harvesters" got here (South Dakota) this summer, they were charging $0.23/bu. to haul from the combine. One guy wouldn't budge from the 23 to make short hauls to the bin, so the farmer made him make the 20 mile haul to town where he had to sit in line and wait. Combiner was mad, but I don't blame the farmer. If I'm paying $0.23/bu it just as well go to town. We need a little hauled to town, couldn't keep up when we had 2 1680 CIH combines going and making close to 50 bu/acre. The guy charged $0.17/bu. Nineteen mile haul with a semi. Everyone was satisified.
